Travel and transport

Planes, trains, automobiles and ferry boats it’s all in Liverpool Liverpool is a premier European visitor destination with global transport connections. With two international airports on the doorstep and just a two hour train journey from central London, Liverpool John Lennon Airport is only nine miles from the city centre, with excellent travel links across the region. Manchester Airport is only 50 minutes from Liverpool, offering many direct long haul routes into the Northwest. The mainline train station, Liverpool Lime Street, is ideally located in the heart of the city centre. Virgin Trains now offer a direct high-speed service from the centre of London in a little over two hours. If your tastes are a little more extravagant, then why not arrive in style aboard one of the many cruise ships that call at the City of Liverpool Cruise Terminal, berthing alongside the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront.

Dining

Liverpool has a wide range of restaurants ranging from French Bistros to Street Food spread around the city.

In the commercial area of Liverpool you will find The Vincent Café & Cocktail Bar. Don’t be fooled by the title this bar offers 7 menus depending on time of day from breakfast, casual dining, and afternoon tea to A la Carte, Vegetarian Menu and Sushi. Why not sit at the open plan kitchen and watch your Sushi being made by the skilled chefs. The Vincent even offers an on line option Sushi2Go so if you don’t fancy dining in you can grab and go.  Keep your eyes open for a few famous Liverpool celebrities this bar is owned by ex-Liverpool FC player Steven Gerrard.

Albert Dock

The world famous heritage site of the Albert Dock has a number of restaurants to offer from Italian Gusto Restaurant & Bar through to the Pirate themed Smugglers Cove. Booking in Advance is advisable for these restaurant especially if events are being held at the Echo Arena & Conference Centre.

City Centre

Liverpool One – The Terrace offers a wide range of well-known chain restaurants from Pizza Express through to Wagamamas and the newly built themed Clubhouse offering an all year round BBQ and live music at certain times of day.

Bold Street

Mowgli Street Food opened by ex-barrister Nisha Katona now a food writer for The Telegraph, The Sunday Times & The Independent who wanted to bring home made Indian street food to the UK. Try the Tiffin for One boxes offered where it is pot luck chosen by the chef.

Beauty and fitness

Many of the Liverpool city centre hotels offer beauty & Fitness areas and a few have swimming pools and spas. There are also gym’s close by the city centre from Nuffield Health, Fitness & Wellbeing Gym & discount brand Pure Gym just a short cab drive along to Brunswick Dock.

Liverpool is an amazing city with a heart of gold, friendly, funny, warm and welcoming. It’s all about common sense in a big city so be savvy be safe.

Liverpool people are known for the friendliness so don’t be afraid to ask passers-by if you need directions to your destination that is direct or if you need help at all.
