From the timeless tranquility of the desert to the lively bustle of the souk, Dubai offers a kaleidoscope of attractions for visitors.
In a single day you can experience everything from rugged mountains and awe-inspiring sand dunes to sandy beaches, from traditional houses with wind towers to ultra-modern shopping malls, not to mention Dubai also features the tallest building in the world – the Burj Khalifa and the iconic 7 starts hotel, Burj al Arab.
With a long history as a trading hub, today Dubai is synonymous with shopping. From souk to shopping mall, Dubai has it all – duty free, gold, electronics, textiles, cars – and is a true shopper’s paradise. Perfect for the shop-o-holics and for retail therapy!
Local Business Etiquette and Customs
Dubai has very low criminality rates and considered one of the safest cities in the world.
Islam being the predominant religion in UAE means the local customs and traditions are influenced by it to a great extent, however it does not make UAE a closed society.
You can easily wear a bikini at the beach and drink alcohol at licensed restaurants and bars/clubs. However, you should be aware that it is strictly prohibited to drive under the influence and you should not be intoxicated in public. You should also dress moderately, especially in public areas like shopping malls or the old part of Dubai (Bur Dubai, Deira, Gold Souk, etc.

Travel and Transport
Situated halfway between Europe and Asia, few destinations take more than 8 hours direct flying time to or from Dubai. Just overnight from London, four hours from Nairobi, three hours from Mumbai, 8 hours from Hong Kong and a direct flight from the United States or Australia.
Dubai transportation system is still under development and not as extensive as most European capitals. However, the new metro system is a great way to reach main attractions and to travel between shopping malls. Also, the bus network is continuously developing to reach more areas.
The good news is that taxis are cheaper than in Europe (1,6AED/km) and widely available, plus the Dubai taxi Corporation also provides ladies only taxi services, which have lady drivers (pink cabs). You can book it by calling +97142080808.
